"Skulls"
Black and white charcoal on black charcoal paper.
Drawing these two human skulls and one cat skull allowed me to understand the dimensions and form of a three dimensional face.
"Extreme Facial Expression"
Black & white charcoal on black charcoal paper.
This was one of my favorite assignments and as a result I created a very extreme self portrait.

"3 different perspectives"
Colored Pastels on white pastel paper.
I photographed my friend Alyssa for this assignment in 3/4 view, front looking down, and front facing as part of the perspective prompt. I also wanted to continue with varying facial expressions and conveying emotion.
"Portrait of an influential person done in an unconventional way"
Comic book pages cut and glued to cardboard.
I chose Stan Lee as my influential person not only because I am a Marvel fan but because his optimism and creativity continues to inspire me as an artist.
"Eyes of a Genius"
Graphite pencil on charcoal paper
In the beginnings of the semester we broke the face up into parts and drew them separately. "Eyes of a Genius" was to practice not only the form and proportion of eyes but likeness of a person. I chose Nicola Tesla.

"Heads and Faces" were broken down into sections to better understand the face as a whole. This assignment was the isolation of nose and lips.

1-2 Minute studies done with a charcoal pencil on charcoal paper.
